Festival Week 1951

​To celebrate the
 Festival of Britain in 1951, the Scouts and Guides organised a full week of events in Romsley and Hunnington from 25th August to 1st September 

The money raised from the events were to go towards a new Headquarters.

There was one event organised on every day of the week ...

Saturday               Grand Carnival Procession from Hunnington Station to Romsley Hill Top
Sunday                 Devotional Meeting in Romsley Methodist Church
Monday                 Local Talent Contest in Romsley Methodist Church
Tuesday                Whist Drive in Romsley Café (next to The Sun)
Wednesday           Grand Variety Concert in Vincent's Canteen - Blue Birds Toffee Factory
Thursday              Repeat of the concert for patients of Romsley Hill Sanatorium
Friday                   Cricket Match at the Cricket Field behind Fighting Cocks
Saturday               Grand Gala in field opposite Rectory, in St Kenelm's Road.  (This was before the Playing Field were opened)
                             Followed by Festival Ball at Vincent's Canteen - Blue Birds Toffee Factory


The programme was printed by the leaders in their homes, on an Adana printing press. Here are pages from the programme.
